Visit to Municipality of Bijelo Polje

During this visit, we participated at the regular meeting of the working group for the implementation of Local plan for Roma inclusion in Bijelo Polje.

The purpose of the meeting was to exchange opinions between the Team for implementation of Local Action Plan for Roma inclusion and members of ROMACTED team related to   the implementation of LAP for Roma, as well as to initiate the short-term priorities related to the integration of Roma in the municipality of Bijelo Polje for the further period.

The main topics which were discuses during the meeting were:

- Opening of the Municipal Office for Roma inclusion in Bijelo Polje is a historic event for the Roma in BijeloPolje and Montenegro and this should be good practice which needs to be followed by other municipalities in Montenegro,

- Housing issue for Roma families from the settlement Rakonje represent high priority. In this process better involvement of local Roma from this settlement must be established .

- In the field of education should be invested more resources. In the process of inclusion of Roma children in schools at all levels, from the municipal budget for the next year, planning of resources  for roma education assistant should be established.

- To intensify cooperation between municipal Office for Roma, implementation Team od LAP and local CAG Roma members

After the meeting members of ROMACTED team and employee of the Office for Roma visited Roma settlements Rakonje and Strojtanica. Team members have met with activists, CAG members and agreed on intensifying activities related to the integration of the Roma community on local level.
