On Saturday 05.11.2016. in the premises of the Congress Centre Premier in Podgorica, it was held training for activists from Roma communities. They were trained how to conduct a research on the position of workers employed in public utility companies. The training was led by an expert in the field of methodological research Professor Miloš Bešić. He explained the concept of research to the activists, and explained possible obstacles that need to be overcome to ensure that research will result with most positive outcome. Participation in the training took 14 activists from seven Montenegrin municipalities. In addition training was also attended by representatives of the NGO Young Roma, a partner organization of the Union of Free Trade Unions, as well as a consultant Sanja Elezovic.
The aforementioned research will be conducted in public utility companies in eight Montenegrin municipalities in order to assess the position of employees in the utilities, the most common forms of violations of labor rights and the importance of trade union organizing in improving the situation of employees in mentioned enterprises. Data obtained through the survey will be used to create measures for improving the position of employees in the utilities, but will also be an integral part of the Strategic Plan for the Unionization that will be created under the project Strengthening public activism of Roma - United we reach more!
The mentioned project is implemented by NGO Young Roma, in partnership with the Coalition Roma Circle and the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro, and financially supported by the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro.
