Second debate “This house believes that preferential mandate for the Roma community should be introduced in Montenegro” took place at the Faculty of Economic in Podgorica on 5th of December 2016. Once more we witnessed that there is a great interest of students and representatives of different institutions on Roma inclusion matters and process of breaking the prejudices that Roma community faces on a daily level. It was concluded that events of this type should be regularly organized at the Montenegrin universities.

This time government was represented by Jovana Rackovic and Mitar Djukanovic from the Faculty of Economics Podgorica, while opposition team consisted of Nadja Andrijasevic from the University of Donja Gorica and Miladin Saranovic from the Faculty of Law Podgorica. Debate moderator that led constructive discussion after the debate was Andrej Sepelj from Debate club „Agora“, partner on our project.

Constructive discussion that followed was very fruitful as attendees commend arguments of both sides and expressed their opinion for or against the idea of preferential mandate for Roma community in Montenegro. We had an opportunity to hear Executive Director of NGO Young Roma Samir Jaha, Independent adviser in the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights Mirela Ramcilovic, Roma activist Elvis Berisa, as well as Jovan Pavlovic i Ana Puljiz who took part as debaters in the first debate held at the Faculty of Political Science.

Debate was organized as a part of “Beat your prejudice” project that NGO Young Roma implements in cooperation with the debate club from the Faculty of Political Science “Agora”, and lasts till May of 2017. Project is financed by the Embassy of the United States - Podgorica, through Democracy Commission Small Grants Program and it includes organization of Forum Theater plays in 3 high schools in Podgorica, Herceg Novi and Niksic, one street performance for the International Roma Day, and 3 parliamentarian debates at 3 higher education institutions.

Third and last debate within this project will be organized during December and will take place in Niksic at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Montenegro.
