Invitation for participation in the second debate within the “Beat your prejudice!“ project at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica

We invite you to take part in the second debate that NGO Young Roma and Debate club from Faculty of Political Science “Agora” organize as a part of “Beat your prejudice” project. Debate will take place at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica (Hall 203) on Monday 5th of December, at 2:00 pm.
After successful first debate “This house believes that Roma are discriminated in Montenegro”, organized at the Faculty of Political Science in Podgorica, we continue with discussions on Roma issues, this time on the topic “This house believes that preferential mandate for the Roma community should be introduced in Montenegro”.
During debate, government position will be represented by Jovana Rackovic and Mitar Djukanovic from Faculty of Economics Podgorica, while opposition team will consist of Nadja Andrijasevic from the University of Donja Gorica and Miladin Saranovic from the Faculty of Law Podgorica. Debate moderator that will lead constructive discussion after the debate will be Andrej Sepelj from Debate club „Agora“.
Project “Beat your prejudice!” is financed by the Embassy of the United States - Podgorica, through Democracy Commission Small Grants Program, and lasts from September 2016 to May 2017. Its aim is to raise awareness on necessity of reduction of discrimination, racism and persistent negative cultural prejudices against Roma by working with young citizens of Montenegro.
Through Forum Theatre plays in 3 high schools, 3 parliamentarian debates at different faculties and one street performance for the International Roma Day, Montenegrin teenagers and students will be engaged in an open debate on hot topics that will trigger their analytical potential. Project will target at least 300 young persons, 15- 25 years old, from 3 Montenegrin municipalities – Podgorica, Niksic and Herceg Novi.
We invite all interested parties to come and take participation in the second debate and give their contribution in breaking down the stereotypes surrounding Roma community.
