Workshop: The challenges of anti-gypsyism and multiple discrimination

This workshop was organised by Decade of Roma Secretariat, Government of Montenegro (Ministry for Human and Minority Rights) in cooperation with Young Roma in Podgorica on 30 - 31 January 2014. The event gathered about 70 representatives of governments (Decade Member and Observer States), Decade Focal Points and Montenegrin CSOs.
17 Roma representatives from Montenegro participated in the event. Prior to the conference, NGO Young Roma organised the meeting on 23rd January, where it was agreed among present participants to ask Decade Secretariat to include Ms Fatima Naza from Centre for Roma Initiatives in the panel on gender issues. Participation of Fatima Naza was approved by the Secretariat and she provided presentation within the panel Multiple Discrimination – Gender Challenges. Ms Naza provided overview of the general situation of Roma women in Montenegro and particularly addressed the issues of education and early marriages. NGO Young Roma provided funds for participation of 12 representatives of Decade Focal Points from 11 countries. Photos and minutes from the meeting were distributed to all Roma representatives who participated in the event.
